We support single mamas impacted by cancer, trauma, and profound loss, offering resources, community, and compassionate support for healing and restoration.
The Elijah Legacy Project supports single mothers who have suffered profound loss or trauma, including those caring for children battling cancer. We walk alongside them through every stage of the journey — from diagnosis and caregiving to loss, healing, and rediscovery.
Rooted in love, resilience, and presence, our mission is to provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support during life’s most isolating seasons. Inspired by Elijah’s spirit, we offer a compassionate space where mothers can connect, grieve, heal, and remember their strength.
Through community and shared experience, we ensure no mother walks alone and every child’s life and legacy are honored. Together, we are building a lasting legacy of hope, healing, and remembrance.
Tara Joy is the heart and founder of The Elijah Legacy Project, a mission that supports single mothers who have suffered profound loss or trauma, including those caring for children battling cancer. and who need tangible assistance, compassion, and community during the most vulnerable seasons of their lives.
A mother of four, Tara stepped away from her family construction business to care for her son, Elijah, full-time following his cancer diagnosis. Determined to provide for her family while remaining present, she became a licensed esthetician and certified Reiki practitioner, working from home to offer both financial stability and healing care. As Elijah’s condition progressed, Tara trained as a death doula, walking beside him through his final days with deep presence, love, and peace.
Today, Tara carries forward everything that journey taught her — resilience, tenderness, and hard-earned wisdom — to support mothers navigating caregiving, grief, and the slow rediscovery of self after unimaginable loss. The Elijah Legacy Project exists so no mother has to walk this road alone — emotionally, spiritually, or practically.
Elijah Chavis’ strength, love, and joy inspire everything we do. His courage in the face of cancer motivates us to support others through their healing journeys. His memory drives the Elijah Legacy Project, reminding us of the power of community and resilience.
